The Payments Canada Summit is where the global payment ecosystem gathers to discuss and debate the future of the industry. The summit attracts innovators, thought leaders, decision-makers and experts who share actionable insights and rich perspectives on advancing innovation in payments and unlocking its potential for sustainable growth.

Symcor’s Saba Shariff, SVP, Chief Strategy, Product & Innovation Officer, delivered a keynote presentation on the mainstage on day one of the summit at 11 a.m. EDT on May 29, 2024. Saba shared her insights on – ‘Driving Innovation in Open Banking through Collaboration and Competition’.
A successful and sustainable Canadian open banking ecosystem depends on creating innovative solutions that harness learnings from industry and government capabilities. In an environment that includes fintechs, financial institutions, intermediaries, aggregators and government, this discussion will focus on leveraging collaboration between ecosystem participants, while fostering innovation through competition to reduce barriers to entry and expand consumer choice.

On day two of the summit, on May 30, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. EDT, Symcor’s Nino Di Teodoro, Senior Director of COR.IQ suite of fraud management products, joined the panel discussion – ‘Connecting for Common Good: Fighting Fraud Together’.
This discussion explored best practices and collective action that organizations can take to safeguard individuals, businesses and the broader digital ecosystem from the ever-evolving threat of fraud.

On day three of the summit, on May 31, 2024, Symcor’s Robin Sooklal, VP, Privacy & Data Governance, joined fellow industry leaders to talk about ‘Balancing Compliance and Regulation to Unlock Innovation Through Data Privacy’ at 8:30 a.m. EDT.

The payment industry is experiencing constant evolution as Canada embarks upon areas such as biometric payments and open banking. However, there are concerns surrounding how best to safeguard and protect consumer data and privacy. This panel discussion addressed these concerns, exploring strategies for organizations to mitigate consumer apprehension and comply with regulations while promoting responsible acceleration of innovation.
